Indians Money parking patterns

Indians are now investing more of their money in bank deposits and mutual funds. According to data, bank deposits form 36.5% of the total financial saving of the household sector in 2004-05, which has now increased to 55.6%. This marks a reversal in trend from the nineties, when bank deposits began losing share to debentures and small savings schemes. Also Mutual Funds have seen a four fold increase, rising from just . 4% in 2004-05 to 4.8% in 2006-07. The loyalty towards bank deposits can be attributed partly to the high returns offered by deposit-starved banks. Some banks were offering returns of up to 10%, for a period of one year. Also with the pace at which India is growing, the demand for credit has been really strong and the loan requirements are also rising steadily. This forced banks to raise deposit rates to attract more funds. The central bank also has signalled higher rates to control inflation. As a result, bank deposits have become attractive and the savings that were earlier parked in government-administered small savings schemes have now started shifting to banks .

Dr Manmohan Singh Puts his foot Down

These people think that they can bargain with empty pockets, India does not have Uranium resrves to go into the Third stage. So from where do the Politburo leaders get the energy sequirity foe india. Or are they bent on making India kneel down while the Chinese father of all their idelogies dances with the US and builds up there country. Idiologies are good but the country should come first, The Chinese have been the hard nosed practicals to demeonstrate this. If Idiology comes in way of growth for the country the choice is very simple the latter should go. The Communist party is suffering from Schizophrenia the Bengalee brethen have chosen a socialistic approsh which is not afraid of the capitlistic benefits where as the Kerelites are still stuck in the fossiled doctrines which even the creators ( Russia and China have forgotten)
• Biman Bose, state secretary of CPM
“We don’t treat (the PM’s statement) as a snub, and everything should not be linked to pulling down the Government.”

• Sitaram Yechury, CPM Politburo member
“The party is going to have a detailed discussion on the Indo-US civil nuclear deal on Monday. It is true that the comment might have emanated from a communication gap. We will have to set that right but at the same time our party will not budge from the stand it has taken.
• Manik Sarkar, Politburo member and Tripura CM
“The Prime Minister and the Government must realise that this agreement is not acceptable to the majority in Parliament. As far as the approach to the Government is concerned, we will take our own counsel.”

• Prakash Karat, CPM general secretary
“The Prime Minister reiterated the Government stand (on the deal). We stick to our stand. Withdrawing support to the Government is a larger political question. And it is solely our prerogative.”
• D Raja, CPI national secy
“The Prime Minister’s statement was unwanted. There was no guarantee given to the Congress that we would support them for five years, and support all their policies. The Left parties will discuss the issue of support to the Government and it is our prerogative whether to continue with this arrangement or not”.

• G Devarajan, Forward Bloc secretary
“It’s the Left parties that decided to support the Government. And we have the wisdom to decide whether to continue supporting the Government or not on our own.”
